The Decorated Stove Plates of the Pennsylvania Germans



The art of casting decorated iron stoves and stove plates was brought to America by German settlers in the first quarter of the eighteenth century. The earliest example found in the Pennsylvania-German districts bears the date of 1726. This illustrated pamphlet details some of those examples. Original grey paper covers with red & black lettering.  Sewn together with red cord.  Illustrated with 26 photo figures.  6"x9" with 26 pages. Some wear to edges, mild creasing, overall clean and crisp.
