This antique color print comes from the 1898 book "True Stories of Famous American For Young Americans" published by W.E. Scull in 1898. The book was a collection illustrated biographies from 1899, written for a juvenile audience and illustrated with color lithographs and numerous black and white engravings. The print measures 6.5 x 9.25 inches.

It features First Lady Dolly Madison saving The Declaration of Independence as Washington burned during the War of 1812.

The paper has browned and shows a bit of edgewear, but the colors are still vibrant.
