This antique hardcover book is bound in indigo cloth boards, with gilt lettering on the spine and a gilt cover illustration of a bear in a trap. The illustration is repeated, with no gilt, on the rear cover. Some cover wear/soil; spotting on the front; spine is darkened; edgewear to spine ends; browned page ends. Illustrated with black-and-white engraved plates, this book is filled with anecdotes and nostalgia from a time when the woods of New York state were filled with trappers and hunters, before the area was properly settled. Also included are some Revolutionary War exploits. 287 pages; approx. 5"x8".
