History of New York

This antique hardcover book is bound in brown leather boards with gilt trim on the spine and gilt lettering on a black leather spine label. Inner pages are browned, with foxing. This is a first edition, with continuation, of the first known printed history of the state of New York. The spine has been replaced; covers are worn, with a heavily chipped upper front corner. Leather in general shows wear. Binding tight. Light foxing, pages are toned. Some wear to the first and last pages of the text block. The bulk of the text was written by Smith before America's independence from the British had been won; the "continuation" carries the history through the year 1814. 511 pages; approx. 5"x8".
