This antique hardcover book is bound in maroon cloth with gilt spine lettering and an embossed gilt New York State seal on the front cover, with embossed borders. Some very slight edgewear; inner pages slightly browned, but unmarked and clean. Front hinge a bit loose, and looks to have been previously repaired. Frontispiece photo illustration is a portrait of Governor Frank Black. More illustrations appear throughout. The book is a report prepared under the direction of the New York state historian regarding the actions of the volunteer Empire State Regiments during the Spanish-American War. Histories of 1st, 2nd 3d, 69th & 71st Regiments.This section of the book is 429 pages. Also included, with separate pagination, is the memoirs of Col. Silas W. Burt, who served with the regiments. This section is 192 pages, including index. Book is approx. 6"x9".
