The Story Hour: A Book for the Home and the Kindergarten


Kate Douglas Wiggin, nee Smith (1856-1923) was an American children's author and educator. She was born in Philadelphia. She started the first free kindergarten in San Francisco in 1878 (the "Silver Street Free Kindergarten"). In the 1880s she established a training school for kindergarten teachers with her sister Nora, the work in that school is reflected in this collection. Blue decorative cloth, 5 x 7 with 185 pages. Book is in good condition with edge and cover wear and soil.
