This antique hardcover first edition is bound in brown cloth boards with a full-color paste-down cover illustration by Howard Chandler Christy. Spine lettering faded; some cover edgewear; very slight rubbing to paste-down; small stain at upper right of first few pages; mostly a clean copy. Somerville's novel is adapted from Thompson Buchanan's play of the same name. Spicy novel of divorce and scandal, later formed the basis for the 1916 silent black and white Peerless Productions film directed by Barry O'Neil, starring Ethel Clayton and Carlyle Blackwell. 327 pages; approx. 5"x7".
