This antique hardcover book is bound in padded brown cloth boards, with beveled edges and decorative gilt embellishments and lettering on the front and spine. Top page edge is gilt. Minor edgewear to cover; front hinge is loose; many pages uncut. This verse translation by Edmund Fitzgerald of Sufi mysticism from the 12th century features decorative black-and-white illustrations on each page, surrounding the text, which has a hand-lettered appearance. A text-only version of the poem follows, along with notes about the text, and a biography of Khayyam, as well as notes about Fitzgerald's translation. Approx. 150 pages, 6"x9".. Hard Cover.
