Cover, spine are browned at edges; small stains on spine; bookplate and inscription on front endpapers. Most inner pages clean, binding tight. A scarce title that presents a thorough documentary history of the presidential election of 1856 from the lens of the Republican party. The book contains numerous speeches, writings and addresses given by prominent Republicans, mostly on the topics of slavery and secession.
