This antique hardcover book is bound in dark brown cloth boards with geometric texrtured pattern on the front, and gilt lettering on the spine (spine reads "Bigelow's Life of Colonel Fremont, Including His Explorations and Discoveries"). Mild wear to spine ends; page edges browned; bookplate and inscription from 19th-century private library on front endpapers; some foxing to early pages, but most are clean. Frontispiece is a portrait of Fremont, who became known for leading expeditions into the American West during the 1840s. 480 pages; appro. 5"x8".
