This antique hardcover book is bound in red cloth boards, with decorative gilt lettering on the front and spine. Cover and spine have raised bands. Cover has soil and edgewear; spine is browned; inner pages are browned; front endpaper has owner's name. An unusual novel - John Oliver Hobbes (pen name of Pearl Mary Teresa Craigie, 1867-1906) wrote the book, a country love story, in 1896, shortly after divorce in 1895. 288 pages; approx. 4"x7".
