"An American Dictionary of the English Language" by Noah Webster, revised and enlarged by Chauncey Goodrich. Published by George and Charles Merriam, 1852.
Full leather binding with five raised bands on spine. Spine label in black leather with gilt lettering. Marbled page ends. Illustrated frontispiece is an engraving of Webster. Large thick volume, 8 inches wide by 10 inches tall, 4 inches thick. 1452 pages.
This is a former library book, there are stamps on the title and copyright pages, and a card slot in the rear. Faint outline of spine labels. The good news is that the library took time to maintain this volume, and the leather in in terrific shape. Textblock shows foxing and the occasional stain or bit of wear, mostly limited to the extremities. Once you get into the thick of it, the pages are clean and bright.
