The Works of George Eliot: SOLD
"The Works of George Eliot" in eleven volumes. Published by Thomas Nelson, circa 1900.
This antique set is bound in flexible textured black leather covers. Front covers are gilt-stamped with a monogrammed "E"; spines have gilt-stamped lettering and decoration. Gilt is bright, some wear to spines, edges; inner pages clean and bright. Leather beginning to rub in spots. Page edges are gilt with red underlay. Each volume includes a ribbon bookmark. Included in this set are:
"Adam Bede,"
"Silas Marner,"
"Poems,"
"Essays,"
"The Mill on the Floss,"
"Scenes of Clerical Life,"
"Middlemarch" vols. 1-2,
"Daniel Derona" vols. 1-2 and
"Felix Holt."
Missing from this set is "Romola." No date of publication given; presumed ca. 1900. Each volume has a frontispiece illustration. All are approx. 4"x6", ranging in length from 550-650 pages.
